Multiple Drone Cooperation for Joint Delivery

For years drones have been foretold to change the future of door-to-door delivery, yet they are still far from widespread use. Several factors hold them back from mainstream adoption, such as a small carrying capacity, short operation range, and the complexity of fleet management. Our project aims to tackle some of these challenges by combining control, planning, and deep learning algorithms to allow cooperation between multiple drones for a joint delivery assignment. Joint deliveries will allow several drones to share the load, increasing operating range and total carrying capacity. A side benefit is enabling the ability to create a drone fleet from a single type of drone for many delivery types, greatly simplifying the technical aspect of fleet management. Our project has applications in logistics, as well as in other industries such as construction, agriculture, defense and more.
