Our project sought to improve the manual administration and documentation of anesthesia medications, particularly addressing challenges during emergencies that could result in incomplete medical records. In the initial phase, we conducted controlled injections in a lab setting, specifically focusing on saline solution. Our objectives included automating the detection of injection points, assessing measurement accuracy, and calculating the volume of injected saline.
Transitioning to the second phase in a real-life operating room, we introduced two additional viscous medications, evaluating the framework’s robustness in handling fluids with varying viscosities. Our specialized setup at Rambam Health Care Campus simulated medicine administration to a patient, providing crucial data for both phases of the project.
The project contributes significantly to addressing the complexities of anesthesia administration in diverse clinical scenarios. By leveraging technology, we aim to enhance patient safety and documentation, emphasizing the need for more efficient methods, particularly during emergencies and real-life clinical settings.
