Smart ball is a physics experiment ball which integrates an electronic system to measure acceleration.
The ball mainly measures the acceleration of gravity in a free fall, transmitting immediate results via Bluetooth to a smartphone screen, and is to be used in physics laboratories in high schools to give students a tangible sense of what acceleration is, what gravity is, and how it can be measured. This tangible feeling is much needed after the students are introduced to the relatively heavy theories that stand behind. Furthermore, the ball can be thrown vertically as an elaboration, to demonstrate a vertical throw and analyze the received results.
As part of the experiment, students and instructors alike are provided with a student workbook and an instructor manual respectively. The workbook reminds students of the theories and equations, introduces them to the ball, guides them step by step through the experiment, aiming to stimulate their curiosity and intriguing them to ponder and benefit while enjoying the whole experience.
